Ever since the introduction of the first oxygen pressure reducer in 1899, Draeger has been dedicated to respiratory protection and protecting human life wherever it is endangered. Over the years our product range has expanded to include gas detection, diving and medical products. Draeger Limited (then known as Draeger Normalair) was formed in 1963 as an equal joint venture between Draegerwerk AG (Germany) and Westland Aircraft (UK). Its task was to sell Draegerwerk products and Normalair (Westlands) Breathing Apparatus in the UK In 1965 Breathing Apparatus manufacture commenced in the UK and a purpose built facility was established in Blyth, Northumberland. In 1974 the Westland 50% share in the company was purchased by Draegerwerk and the Company was then re-named Draeger Safety Limited.
